Love to Play? Keep it Together with Guidecraft

The Dress-up Carousel by Guidecraft was a complete hit for my little 4 year old daughter. She has so many princess dresses and costumes that she plays with daily that we had to keep it all in a toy chest for the longest time. This was a problem because she would pull everything out to get a particular item; therefore, making a huge mess every day in the playroom. But now, with the spacious revolving carousel she can see everything and enjoys playing dress-up for several hours enhancing her creativity and imagination with out a huge mess. The two full length mirrors are perfect for her to really make playtime more exciting. She has now organized the carousel to fit all her princess shoes on the lower shelves and on the upper shelves/pockets holds her gloves, make-up and magic wands.

This carousel fits perfectly in a corner of a room. However, we put it in the middle of her playroom since the pastel colors (style # G-98100) match the room and she plays with it constantly. Altogether there are 8 storage bins and an area to hang dresses or costumes. This product is 9 out of a 10 in rating with a 10 meaning without flaws, perfect in every way. This is a product I would highly recommend to my family and friends.

The carousel is sturdy and very well made. However, the instructions to install the carousel were not as clear and precise as I would have desired. Thankfully a picture was put on the front of the box in order to double check the three step assembly instruction sheet. The hardware detail was sufficient but I would have liked the three steps broken down further. Clearer directions would have elevated this product from the nine status.

This pastel revolving carousel features a hanging area with wooden pegs, storage cubby’s, two mirrors, storage bins for make-up, jewelry, scarves, hats, shoes, and more.

This Colonial styled toy chest features a seating area, generous storage area with removable dividers and casters for enhanced mobility. The three photo cut-outs will allow for personalization. Features a safety hinge catch and cut-outs to prevent finger pinching*

If your house looks like mine, toys are everywhere! I’ve tried to stay organized, I really have. But, with a baby and a toddler, that can be a difficult challenge. We have a toybox downstairs for a few toys, but it is rather small. I have an issue with it because it’s like a “catch-all!” Toys are thrown in there and when I go to clean it out, there is trash, papers, and the toys have been smashed so the lid will shut! The Guidecraft Toybox offers solutions to those problems. The Guidecraft Toybox is very “kid-friendly!” My son can open and close it with ease, without having to worry about closing his fingers in the lid. There are three large (and deep) compartments for toys. I love this idea! I like everything to be in it’s place. These compartment dividers are removable also, so if you
have large toys to store, you can do that as well.

Trying to teach a toddler organization is sometimes a daunting task. I’m going to really work with him on picking up his toys and keeping his room clean, and this toybox helps me out in teaching that skill. I can also teach him positions because of the toy dividers. I can instruct him to go put this toy in the “middle square” or the “left” or “right” square. What fun!

When a child feels ownership in something, it helps for him/her to develop a love for that object. I love, love, love the option this toybox gives with the picture frame holders in the back! I can snap some cute photos of my boys and place them in the picture slots. What a fun way to personalize the toybox and help decorate the room!

Okay, now you know that I love this toybox, but I have to give you the scoop about putting it together. Now, I’m not one to take the initiative to put things together. I see a big box and I just leave it for my hubby. He’s really handy and enjoys building things, etc. He has a “type-A” personality, so when he opens the box, he likes to line everything up, according to size, label, and in order of assembly. Well, he opened the box, lined everything up, and couldn’t find the instructions! Um…there were a lot of pieces, but no instructions! He found a picture diagram and used that to assemble. However, if he weren’t so handy, this could have been a disaster! We later found the instructions on the website, which are to be printed out. This was kind of funny to us since usually, the instructions are included in the box. So, from my husband’s perspective, that was just bad news.

It didn’t stop there. In the process of building this beautiful toybox, he had to drill larger holes for the hinges. When he tried to use the screws provided, the steal screw heads broke off. Either my hubby is so strong he breaks screws, or the screws included are sort of, well, cheap? (my hubby is awesome, but he’s no Hercules!) He worked it out though and the toybox looks great! The only thing we would recommend is…print the instructions before opening the box, and be very gentle with the screws, they are fragile! All in all, this toybox is amazing! I love the depth of the toybox! The dividers make for a structured toy area, and the picture frame idea is awesome. If you’re looking for a toybox…you’ll have to check this one out! It comes in three different colors, to match your personal décor style!
